Dr. Ashcraft has been a huge piece of Sahuaro’s history. After graduating as a Cougar in 1970, he served as Vocal Music Director for over three decades and helped to develop the Sahuaro High Cougar Foundation.
Dr. Ashcraft has directed all levels of choral music from elementary through college, and served as choral director at Sahuaro High School for 33 years where he also taught guitar, general music and music theory. He originated the Advanced Placement Music Theory program in TUSD, and was a contributing author for the National AP Music Theory Guide, published by the College Board. Dr. Ashcraft also served as chair of the Sahuaro Fine Arts Department.
He was inducted into the Cougar Foundation Hall of Fame in 1997.
