Orlando “Orly” Urbina, Head Groundsman

Orlando UrbinaOrlando Urbina (Orly to everyone he meets) was born in Tucson Arizona on March 15 1942. Orly has been married to his wonderful wife, Carmen, for 32 years. They have raised four children: Monica, Veronica, Orlando II, and Roman. They all reside in Tucson.

Orly attended school in Tucson and has been employed by a local beverage company, Capers Car Wash and Tucson Unified School District. He began working for TUSD in November of 1968 as a custodian at District Offices at 1010 E Tenth Street. In 1970, he began to work as a custodian for Cholla High School. He transferred to Sahuaro in 1980 and has been head groundskeeper for 18 years.

Orly has become a friend of students, coaches, teachers, and administrators. He is known throughout the district for his care, maintenance and upkeep of Sahuaro’s playing fields and grounds. He is and has been an integral part of Sahuaro High School’s winning tradition. He takes great pride in his work and has received numerous accolades for his dedication from many athletes, coaches and friends.
