Scott Carter, Class of ‘70, Producer, Writer, Performer

Cindy RarickScott Carter, who lives in Los Angeles, is from the first graduating class of 1970, and has had an outstanding career in the field of entertainment. While at Sahuaro, Scott was chairman of the Student Steering Committee that began meeting at Palo Verde before Sahuaro opened. He was also involved in Drama and Performing Arts while at Sahuaro, and is especially known for his one-man show about Mark Twain that he performed during his senior year. It will always be remembered as a glimpse of great things to come for this young man.

Scott is the Executive Producer/Writer for “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO. He produced the first 1,100 episodes of “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.” He has been involved in many other TV productions and writing projects as well as producing and performing standup comedy in various venues.

Scott has received many awards for his work including eight Emmy nominations; three consecutive Cable Ace Awards for Best Talk Series; Producers Guild of America’s Johnny Carson Award and the University of Arizona Wildcat Hall of Fame.
